T-shirts are a form of self-expression that can cause a lot of confrontation, fear, anger, and legal battles. At Ban Shirts we are going to document all of the events that occur when t-shirts are at the center of controversy. Our researchers have compiled over 30 different cases of people being punished, suspended, arrested for wearing t-shirts. So over the next month we will be posting these banned t-shirt stories and continue to feature NEW stories about t-shirts in the news that are the center of controversy. You will be amazed at the power of a t-shirt and the message that it carries. T-shirts can be warm, soft, comfortable and make you feel great, but unfortunately the message it displays can do exactly the opposite. We would really be interested in hearing your stories about reactions to different t-shirts you have worn. It doesn’t have to be that you were arrested for wearing the shirt or suspended (though those would be great stories), it could be stares from teachers or mothers or little kids. Don’t be shy, lets explore the impact of t-shirts on our culture.
