Lesbian.com T-shirt gets woman banned from Social Security Office

Lapriss Gilbert was shocked to learn that she would be forced to leave the Social Security office because a guard objected to her wearing a lesbian.com t-shirt. “As an African-American and a lesbian, I haven’t been through one day without facing some sort of discrimination … but this is just shocking,” said Gilbert, 31.

The guard told Lapriss that in the document The Rules and Regulations Governing Conduct on Federal Property it suggests that he had jurisdiction over Gilbert’s attire. But the document does not specify what type of clothing is actually allowed in federal buildings. The security guard was unavailable to comment on the situation but a federal spokeswoman for the Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcements said that guard as out of line. Lapriss plans on filing a lawsuit a against the Paragon Security Company.
