T-Shirts NOT allowed at Indianapolis Schools as part of new dress code

In August the Indianapolis Public Schools implemented a new dress code that included banning t-shirts from students clothing options. On the first day of school there were 20 students that weren’t in compliance. Students parents brought many of the students who were not in compliance clothes and teachers supplied additional clothing options for students. Some students were placed in a discipline room for the entire day due to dress code violations. In addition to banned t-shirts, students are not allowed to wear jeans or jackets or anything with writing or designs on them. Rules also state that shirts must be tucked in and pants worn on the waist. Some of the District members have set up funds for families who can’t afford clothes that meet the new dress code that bans t-shirts and other clothes. The funniest part is that serious violations were of those students who wore “Black shirts” or having small small stripes on their shirts.
